AngelicArtistry's GoToHeaven Jophiel's Game Question 57

Among the many literary sources for information on angels, the greatest and most enduring has been the ________.

Interestingly, in this book only two angels are actually 'named'....Michael and Gabriel (and in some editions Raphael).

However, the word 'angel' is used at least 292 times in this book.

Scholars point out, however, that those are references specific to the term 'angel', and not included are the uses of other synonyms that denote angels or angelic beings.

There are thus also terms and names ranging from the very specific to the vague: seraphim, cherubim, ministering spirits, chariots of God, powers, authorities, morning stars, heavenly bodies, sons of God, princes, thrones, and elders.

Angels appearing in this book assume a variety of incarnations.

There are the "men" who appeared to Abraham and Lot just before the obliteration of Sodom and Gomorrah; the fearsome cherub who was placed at the east gate of Eden with his flaming sword; and the mind-boggling angels beheld by Ezekiel.

Throughout, however, angels fulfill clear duties for the Lord, be they messengers bringing the joyous news of Christ's coming or the impending doom of the Sodomites, or angels of vengeance and destruction.
